Our main goal is simple: provide top quality orthopedic care that improves or restores each patient’s quality of life.
From simple sprains to more complex surgical repair, you will find the expertise and quality care that you deserve at Edgewood Surgical Hospital.
Our surgeons offer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services for a full spectrum of orthopedic problems. Annually, our orthopedic specialists perform thousands of procedures for fractures and sprains, joint replacement, osteoporosis, back/spine injuries and conditions, hand/shoulder/neck injuries and conditions, sports medicine and occupational health.
Total Joint Replacement Surgery
Joint replacement surgery is removing a damaged joint and putting in a new one. Sometimes the surgeon will not remove the whole joint and instead only replace or fix the damaged parts. Replacing a joint can relieve pain and help you move and feel better. Hips and knees are replaced most often, but other joints that can be replaced include the shoulders, fingers, ankles and elbows.
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive operation to repair a damaged joint; the surgeon examines the joint with an arthroscope while making repairs through a small incision.
Arthroscopy Benefits:
- Little scarring and quick healing due to smaller incisions
- Reduced risk of infection and swelling associated with small incisions
- Easier examination of skeletal joints, such as the knee, hip or shoulder
- Less pain because the use of small instruments causes less damage to surrounding tissues
Shorter surgical time – A typical arthroscopic procedure takes less than one hour
Medical Director John P. Scullin, M.D. states, “Lower infection rates are just another example of how specialization can significantly improve the quality of care available for our patients.”

Rehabilitation and Therapy
Start moving, gain strength and return to normal routines as quickly and safely as possible. We specialize in rehabilitation services for all orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including, but not limited to sports-related injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, shoulder, ankle, wrist, neck and back problems.
Helping You Return to Your Normal Routine
Your condition probably began with pain and a decrease in strength and mobility. In response, your rehabilitation will focus on reducing the pain and restoring your strength and function as safely and efficiently as possible.
Therapy begins in the hospital where your surgery was performed and continues after you are discharged. If you need additional hospitalization, services will be made available at a rehabilitation organization in the region. You may also receive therapy in the comfort of your own home through The Homecare Network.
Our medical and clinical rehabilitation therapists develop treatment plans tailored to meet each patient’s individual needs and goals.
